Chuck episode 16: “Chuck Versus the Masquerade” recap

An assassin kills two people who work with Volkoff in Russia, Italy. He asks the victims for a key, that none of them own.

Back in California, Chuck & Morgan prepare for Valentine’s Day. Devin and Ellie are ready to get it on but are interrupted by baby Clara. Chuck and Sarah celebrate Valentine’s in his room while Alex and Morgan get the living room. Chuck & Sarah head to the kitchen for some chocolate-dipped strawberries. But Casey interrupts Morgan, Chuck, Sarah, and Alex’s Valentine’s festivities with news of a new mission.

At the CIA Buy More facility the team are informed by General Beckman about three of Volkoff’s lieutenants that were killed by Boris Kaminsky. He wants to claim power of Volkoff Industries but a woman named Vivian is Volfkoff’s successor (and daughter) and General Beckman orders the team to get to her before Boris does. They head to Somerset, England for a masquerade ball.

At the ball Chuck tells Sarah he’s creeped out by the masks!

Chuck

Sarah runs into Boris. Chuck and Sarah nab Vivian in time but get caught by Boris and his armed men. The teams escape with Vivian.

Chuck

At the Buy More, Devin and Ellie are looking rough. They haven’t had any sleep as baby Clara’s been keeping them up all night. Big Mike helps them find some baby products for Clara including a stuffed animal that plays Jeffster songs. It’s the only thing that quiets Clara.

At the CIA Buy More facility, Casey tells Chuck & Sarah that Morgan feels like a third wheel since they’ve been engaged. Sarah decides to hang out with Morgan but they don’t really have much in common. Morgan figures out that Casey was right and he is the third wheel. He wants to move out.

Chuck talks with Volkoff’s daughter Vivian about what her dad actually did for a living, killing people. She tells Chuck to use her as bait to bring down Boris.

Casey meets with NSA Director Agent Jane Bentley (guest star Robin Givens) she wants to recruit him as she’s putting together a new team and wants him onboard.

Devin and Ellie figure out that Clara is able to sleep properly with the Jeffster songs but it’s driving the nuts as it keeps replaying over and over again.

Chuck goes home to find Morgan packing up his stuff. Morgan tells him that they need to grow up and Chuck & Sarah need their own place as they’ll be married soon. Morgan says he’ll move in with his mom. Sarah apologizes to Chuck about Morgan.

Sarah goes undercover as Vivian at the stables, short brown wig and all in an attempt to capture Boris. Sarah horseback rides to the forest with Casey close by. Sarah gets thrown off the horse. The horse makes it back to the stables without Sarah. One of Boris’s men gets to Sarah but gets killed by Casey. Vivian and Chuck ride the horse to the forest and are followed. Chuck flashes and gets himself of the horse and attacks the men who were following close behind. Casey defeats Boris’s men in the forest. Vivian makes it back to the stables and runs into Boris who wants the key but she shoots him.

Afterwards, Vivian keeps the info she knows about the “key” (a necklace she wears from her dad) to herself.

Later on, Devin and Ellie put Clara in her nursery and they finally get some sleep.

Casey talks with Agent Bentley about moving on from the CIA. She offers him a mission.

Vivian visits her father’s office and finds a bronze horse statue. She inserts a part of her necklace into the statue and it reveals…

Chuck episode 15 recap: “Chuck Versus the C.A.T. Squad”

Back in 2003 the C.A.T. Squad was the best all-girl spy team around featuring cold-hearted Carina, Zondra the bitch, Amy the party-girl and Sarah. Together they were the Clandestine Attack Team.

In present time, Chuck’s trying to find Sarah’s old friends for their engagement party. He recruits Morgan to contact Carina who was a part of C.A.T., his former flame and Chuck sends her an email. Carina calls the other squad members to inform them about Sarah’s engagement.

Sarah’s not too happy about Chuck bringing the C.A.T. Squad back together. When they drop by they pick up Sarah for a girls night out.

The next day Sarah has a bad hang-over. She went to Vegas and Miami with the C.A.T. Squad and partied all night. They all crashed at Chuck’s. Carina ended up in bed with Morgan who by the way is still dating Alex, who stops by and meets Carina.

During breakfast it turns out there’s some trust issues between Sarah and Zondra. Afterwards just when Carina steps into her car it blows up and Chuck flashes on a piece of the bomb and identifies Augusto Gaez (guest star Lou Diamond Phillips). Augusto is the enemy against C.A.T. They tried to capture him but were never able to. General Beckman orders the C.A.T. to capture him in Rio. Sarah thinks Zondra is working for Gaez.

In Rio the C.A.T. Squad are at a club looking for Gaez while Chuck and Casey run surveillance outside. The C.A.T. Squad walk right into a setup as Gaez was informed the ladies were looking for him.

Chuck

Gaez holds them hostage. He wants the squad to work for him. But Sarah frees herself. Just when Gaez was about to tells Sarah who the mole is, Chuck decides to crash the party. Sarah yells at him for trying to help.

Chuck

Meanwhile Morgan needs to help Carina while she’s injured. He cancels plans with Alex once, again. When Morgan meets Alex she finds lipstick on his collar, oh no!

Back at the CIA facility Sarah and Zondra decide to fight it out. Amy’s the one who’s been working with Gaez. Apparently she’s not as dumb as she seems! The duo lock down the facility with the remaining squad members and Morgan left inside. Gaez and Amy head to the Buy More and find Chuck. Sarah walks Chuck through defeating Gaez. The squad girls make their way out in time to keep Amy from escaping. Afterwards Sarah and Zondra apologize to each other.

At Chuck and Sarah’s engagement party, Alex breaks up with Morgan. But he tells her that nothing happened between him and Carina. He finally tells her he loves her. Sarah asks Ellie to be her maid of honor at the wedding.

Chuck episode 14 recap: “Chuck Versus the Seduction Impossible”

In Marrakesh, Morocco agent Roan Montgomery (guest star John Larroquette) shows a lady friend a counterfeit $100 bill. He tells her that he’s trying to find out who’s making the bills, but gets kidnapped instead.

Baby Clara is somewhat a spectacle with everyone as Devin digitally documents every moment! The attention then shifts to Chuck and Sarah’s wedding plans.

Morgan tells Casey that Alex wants him to meet her mom Kathleen who thinks Casey’s dead.

General Beckman (who is a hot mess) informs the team about a mission off the books, to rescue agent Roan Montgomery. He was investigating the dangerous Fatima and her female army. It turns out Beckman and Montgomery are somewhat of an item, which explains her hot mess-ness. While packing Sarah brings up the fact her and Chuck can elope and skip the wedding stress.

At the Buy More Chuck tells Morgan he’s not into an elopement. He wants his family involved in his wedding.

Montgomery isn’t letting Fatima and her gang get to him. Sarah, Chuck, and Casey arrive to save the day. Montgomery still has a tracking device on him so the CIA can still follow him. Along the way Chuck flashes on a dangerous guy but their mission to rescue Montgomery and that’s it. They find Montgomery who’s awaiting Fatima and he’s not in any danger. He tells them he’s on a mission and needs info from Fatima. Chuck and Sarah get caught and tied up alongside Roland. Chuck tells Sarah he doesn’t want to elope.

Chuck

Casey doesn’t get caught and sort of seduces a lady-guard. He frees Chuck, Sarah & Montgomery. Casey stays behind.

Chuck

Alex drops by the Buy More to tell Morgan of plans meeting her mom. Alex is not happy to hear that Morgan wants Casey and Kathleen to reunite. While Casey’s still on his Moroccan mission Morgan tells him Alex doesn’t want him to reunite with Kathleen.

Beckman meets with Montgomery, she’s not impressed about his rogue mission to Morocco. Beckman’s new mission for Montgomery: working at the Buy More. Montgomery talks with Chuck about his first meeting Beckman back in 1989 Berlin. They made a pact with her that in 20 years they would be a normal couple.

Chuck, after getting advice on how to be a cool spy from Montgomery gets all fancy-pants and surprises Sarah, who has a surprise of her own. She’s dressed as a bellydancer. She tries to seduce him to get him to elope. But they both fail to seduce one another.

Casey tells Beckman, Chuck, and Sarah about her meeting his financial backers who gets killed by her army. Casey’s trapped in the debris and may need to chop his arm off. Beckman sends Chuck and Sarah back to Morocco. She wants Montgomery to seduce Fatima to get the location of the mint. Chuck and Sarah hits a snag freeing Casey and they are caught by Fatima’s army.

Fatima tells Montgomery about her childhood and slips the mint’s location that Beckman overhears. She launches a missile that destroys Fatima’s palace and frees the CIA agents. After a successful mission Beckman lets her hair down (literally) and joins Montgomery at the bar.

Chuck

On a lighter note, Mary is bonding with little Clara. Ellie asks Mary if she really wants to be a full-time grandma. Ellie admits she made Chuck quit the CIA but she tells Mary if she needs to be the great spy that she is then it’s okay.

Casey goes to meet up with Kathleen but sees she’s got a new man.

Sarah tells Chuck that eloping was her way of not dealing with her family. She tells Chuck that her family is complicated, but Chuck’s willing to help her.

Chuck episode 9: “Chuck Versus Phase Three” recap

The episode begins with Chuck and Sarah canoodling at home. She really wants him to flash. Buzz kill: he can’t. Lester appears in their bed, turns out it was just a bad dream. Chuck is still being held hostage by the Belgian bad guy played by guest star Richard Chamberlain. They are “somewhere in Thailand” trying to restart the intersect in Chuck’s brain.

Back at the Buy More/CIA facility the General briefs Sarah and Casey who still can’t find Chuck. Morgan gives them intel about a Thai national who works closely with the Belgian bad guy. Sarah and Casey head to the Thai embassy for some answers. They capture the Thai national but he refuses to talk.

Devin is worried about Ellie and the baby. He doesn’t want her working too hard. They discover a laptop in her dad’s car that doesn’t turn on.

At home Sarah is in Chuck withdrawal. She finds a map which turns out to be a proposal plan and Morgan confirms Chuck was planning on proposing.

Sarah returns to being a bad ass spy and extracts info about Chuck’s whereabouts without Casey’s help.

Devin calls Jeff and Lester to help break into the laptop that Ellie found. In return for helping Jeff wants a medical consult.

Sarah’s gone rogue and Morgan has helped her escape. Casey and Morgan team up to find Sarah who is hunting Chuck.

They all head to Thailand. Meanwhile Chuck’s in a dream sequence where Sarah has left him because he can’t flash.

Real life: Sarah finds a man who has info about Chuck’s whereabouts but must fight a dude to get the info. Morgan and Casey arrive at the right time for round 2 of Sarah’s fight.

During the fight Chuck manages to escape! He steals back his phone and tells Ellie what happened. Unfortunately Chuck’s dreaming again.

Sarah defeats her opponent. Jeff and Lester have problems breaking into the laptop.

Sarah and Casey agree they are not leaving Thailand until they find Chuck.

Chuck is being placed under “phase three” by the scientist. During his dream sequence, he’s back at the Buy More. All his coworkers appear on TVs and tell him he should flash. Ellie and Devin also appear telling him to flash.

Sarah and Casey defeat armed men in the jungle. Sarah finds the Belgian and Chuck who is still in dreamland and doesn’t believe she’s actually really there to rescue him. She tells him about his proposal plan that she found and she wants to marry him! She kisses him and he wakes up.

Chuck episode 8: “Chuck Versus the Fear of Death” recap

The General grills Chuck on trusting Agent Frost, his mama. She briefs Chuck, Sarah, and Casey that finding Frost is a priority. Since the intersect is gone Chuck gets tested for 31 days to see if the intersect really is gone. To no avail Chuck doesn’t flash during the testing. But a specialist from Langley will run some more tests.

At the Buy More, Lester and Jeff have noticed Chuck is more emotional but Sarah walks in and tells Chuck that Frost & Volkoff are untraceable. Morgan tells them that Casey is very antsy to complete a new mission.

At the CIA facility at the Buy More, Chuck meets with Agent Jim Rye guest star Rob Riggle. Chuck was able to take on 3 ninjas without the intersect. Rye assures Chuck that when he’s done with him, Chuck will be back to normal with the intersect restored. Rye has some pretty physical plan to help him. So basically Chuck will go through some pretty risky/chaotic experiences to bring back the intersect.

At the Buy More, Lester is growing suspicious about the new Greta guest star Summer Glau and decides to do investigation with Jeff.

Chuck returns home and tells Sarah that he’s willing to endure physical pain to restore the intersect. A ninja aka Agent Rye decides to throw Chuck off his game and scare the crap out of him. Rye decides he will administer pure fear to trigger the intersect back.

Chuck

Back at the Buy More, Greta tells Morgan about Jeff & Lester’s suspicions of her. He assures her that he’ll keep an eye on them.

The General briefs the Sarah, Chuck, Rye, and Casey that Rye will take Chuck on a mission without his intersect to Switzerland. They are supposed to win an auction for a diamond and take it back to the U.S. Sarah and Casey will stay behind.

At the auction Agent Rye decides to bail on Chuck, who is left with some pretty sketchy dude bidding on the diamond. Chuck gets held at gunpoint by a Russian and doesn’t win the auction. Agent Rye leads Chuck to an enclosed room with cold air being blasted at them. Chuck concentrates to flash but it doesn’t work. They do however find fake diamonds with CIA information on them.

Casey meets with his daughter for lunch. He tells her that he’s preparing himself psychologically in case he gets sent back to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Sarah and Casey talk with Chuck about the fake diamonds. Sarah yells at Chuck saying he’s not a spy and she’ll be joining him and Agent Rye in the mission.

At the Buy More Jeff and Lester confront Greta but Morgan busts them. Casey claims that Greta’s a thief, uhhh she’s more like a CIA Agent but good job for covering for her Casey! She packs up to leave and complains to Casey about the CIA facility.

Chuck

Back in Switzerland, Sarah arrives and gets word from Casey that Chuck’s identity about being the intersect is one of the diamonds and the Belgians know his identity. Richard Chamberlain guest stars as one of the Belgians. Chuck’s on the verge of dying but Agent Rye urges him to try and flash. Agent Rye gets shot by Chamberlain’s character and takes Chuck hostage.

Sarah returns back to the CIA facility and she’s not happy about Chuck being taken. Meanwhile Chuck is tied up by Chamberlain’s character as he tells Chuck he wants the intersect from his head. Chamberlain’s character thinks Chuck is lying and drugs him instead.

Chuck tells Morgan him and Sarah have never had an argument before and he wants to confront her about taking Frost away before she got reconnected with Ellie. They are cleaning out some computer junk Chuck’s dad left for him.

Chuck talks with Ellie about if by chance their dad left any info about their mom. She says no.

At the CIA base Chuck has an idea to talk with his mom without anyone knowing.

Sarah returns to Chuck’s apartment and meets Morgan. He tells her to keep her distance with Chuck due to abducting Frost. Meanwhile Chuck’s at the CIA base talking with Frost as he will prove she’s innocent (good luck with that Chuck). Frost admits she to Chuck she told Volkov about working with the CIA and joined him for missions. She tells him there’s one person who can confirm her story Jeffrey Tuttle her handler at MI6.

Ellie’s convinced her dad left her hidden messages in the classified ads in the newspapers and she tells Devin.

At the Buy More Chuck gets recruits Morgan to help meet Tuttle. Morgan makes the mistake of dropping his earpiece in a glass of water (not very spy-like).

Chuck meets with Tuttle guest star Timothy Dalton during their meeting guest star Ana Gasteyer shoots tranqs into Chuck and Tuttle. Morgan, who was drying off his earpiece missed the whole thing and lost them!

Chuck and Tuttle are being held captive on a plane by a Russian agent (Gasteyer). She wants to know what they did with Frost. Chuck flashes and him and Tuttle defeat the Russian agent & armed men.

In CIA custody, Frost refuses to give info to Casey and Sarah. Morgan comes in and tells them Chuck is missing. She insists she wants to see Ellie before giving up any info about Chuck and Tuttle.

Chuck and Tuttle escape from the plane with parachutes. They find themselves in a sheep truck. Tuttle says they will head to L.A. to get intel to clear Frost. Tuttle wants to know Chuck’s connection with Frost but Chuck doesn’t give any details.

Casey, Sarah, Morgan transport Ellie to meet her mom. They chat and share lemonade as Sarah supervises. Ellie’s nervous. Frost tells stories about Ellie’s childhood and they share memories. Ellie tells Frost she wants to know the truth and Frost starts from the beginning. They end their meeting as Mary gets escorted out.

Chuck and Tuttle head to a bank and retrieve a safety deposit box.

At home Devin comes home as Ellie looks at the newspapers ads and figures out it’s not a code but a real car.

Mary and Sarah find Chuck & Tuttle and there’s a disk that plays triangle disks which will play in a computer that Chuck’s dad left him.

Volkov’s men meet them at the bank. Chuck flashes defeats the men as Sarah helps. Just when they think it’s all over the Russian Agent (Gasteyer) shoots Tuttle. He hands the disks to Chuck.

Chuck, Sarah, and Frsot head to the old computer to read the disks. Frost finds a box in the storage with a device. Sarah wanders to go and find Frost as Chuck’s having problems with the disks. Frost grabs a PSP looking device that Chuck flashes on, it seems to be more intel. Tuttle knocks out Sarah. He says his name is Alexei Volkov and knocks out Chuck.

Frost ties up Chuck and Sarah. Turns out Frost is somewhat of a traitor as she told Volkoff she had a husband. They arm the place with explosives. Volkov tells Chuck he had to find Orion’s (Chuck’s dad) storage. Frost hands Sarah a razor blade to cut herself and Chuck loose and tells Sarah to protect Chuck. They it out of the storage unit safely but unfortunately all the his dad’s research is gone. Chuck says he can’t flash anymore (uh oh).

Ellie finds her dad’s car with a note from him. This car is his final gift to her but it seems to have some sort of tracking device in it! Dum dum dummmm.

Chuck

Chuck and Sarah are working on the nerve gas detonator. It activates. Wheelright tells them it’s a safety precaution to activate when it’s being tampered with. They release him to turn the device off. He deactivates it but doesn’t actually and it activates again. Chuck has enough time to put the place on lockdown and keeps Sarah safe. Wheelright watches as Chuck suffers from the side effects. Sarah tells him it’s just in his head and he needs to fight it. They make it out safely but Wheelright manages to spray Chuck again with the nerve gas. Chuck sees Mary shooting Sarah, but it’s not real. Sarah frees herself and tries calling Casey but he’s busy teaching Morgan how to be a suave spy.

Chuck

Back at the Buy More, Chuck is stuck in the Aisle of Terror and the images make him focus but causes Wheelright to lose it. Sarah punches Wheelright and saves Chuck. Chuck checks him phone and has a missed call and a message from his mom saying she wants to see Ellie before she leaves.

Chuck goes to tell Ellie about the news. But before he does, Ellie tells him she wish she could talk to their mom. Chuck asks her if she has plans later.

Casey gets a visit by Sarah who gives her a folder about Mary. He tells her Mary’s a double agent and she’s actually working for Volkoff.

Chuck

At the restaurant Ellie and Chuck wait for Mary. Before Mary walks into the restaurant someone abducts Mary and Chuck catches the culprit, it’s Sarah who tells him that Mary isn’t the spy he thinks she is and speeds off.

Chuck

Chuck goes back into the restaurant and tells Ellie that Mary isn’t coming and she’s a spy.

Chuck episode 5 “Chuck Versus the Couch Lock” recap

This week’s episode begins with a flashback to Zagros Mountains, Iran in 1999. Agent Packard played by guest star Eric Roberts kills armed men along with Agent T.I. (guest star Dave Batista) and Agent Mackintosh (guest star Joel David Moore) and Agent Casey. They find gold bars and rig the place with C4. It was their order to blow up the gold as it funded terrorist activities. However, the boys pull their guns on Casey who is the only one who actually wants to stick with the mission at hand. Casey subdues the men, locks them in, and also activates the C4 with his hand print.

Present day…The Buy More

Jeff and Lester try to wrangle up Casey to “get the gang back together.”

Morgan is surprised by Alex as Morgan is hesitant to show some PDA with Casey watching them as Casey doesn’t know they are dating, yet. She tells him to tell Casey they are dating and leaves.

Chuck talks with Morgan as he needs him to cover him as he has CIA related stuff to do. Sarah tells Chuck she’s gone through a lot of files and there’s no mention of his mom. She does however find a photo that Chuck flashes on, it’s the men who used to work for Casey. Casey proceeds to tell them what happened with the missing guys. Chuck tells Casey these guys (who have Volkoff ties) may have information about Frost. Casey tells them the only way these guys will escape from hiding is for his funeral, *eureka* Chuck decides to throw Casey a fake funeral and runs this idea by The General.

Casey says he’ll be drugged and pretend he’s dead. The funeral patrons will all be agents in disguise. The General okays the mission and tells Chuck he’s really progressed as a spy for using Casey as bait.

At Chuck’s, Colonel Casey dresses for the mission. Chuck tells him it’s okay if he wants to back out but Casey disagrees. He’ll be given Tetradotoxin and it will slow down Casey’s heart beat but he’ll still be awake, he just will not be able to move. Morgan is given the duty to give Casey his eulogy. Ellie and Devin tells Chuck & Morgan she’s having a girl! Ellie tells Chuck she wants to know what happened to their mom so her child will know her grandmother.

At Casey’s funeral, Morgan tells Casey he’s going to “eulogize the hell out of him.” Morgan gives Alex a quick call to tell her that he will tell Casey about their relationship.

Mackintosh arrives to pay his respects to Casey and stabs him with an American flag pin, just to make sure he’s dead. In his eulogy, Morgan tells Casey he’s handsome. T.I. arrives at the funeral and burns Casey’s hand with a cigar to make sure he’s dead. Then Packard arrives with a lily flower as Packard, T.I., and Mackintosh all have guns and C4, they sure have come prepared after the smoke clears, Casey is missing.

Chuck sends a team to locate Casey but Casey’s men have strapped the tracker to a cat. In an abandoned warehouse the bad guys wants to cut off Casey’s arm to use it to open the vault containing the gold. When they are distracted Casey tries and moves his limbs. As Mackintosh tries to cut off Casey’s arm, the doorbell rings and Casey fights off the men, and makes an escape but he’s still woozy as he makes a call to the Buy More. Jeff answers the phone as Casey says he’ll hide in the nearby dumpster.

Chuck and Sarah do not find Casey as Jeff and Lester already picked him up. Morgan calls them and they tell him they’ve got Casey and relays the news to Chuck. However, Chuck and Sarah head to the abandoned warehouse and its armed with C4. Chuck admits it was his fault for getting them into this mess.

Casey is at Morgan’s apartment when Alex comes over. Morgan doesn’t let her in but talks to her outside instead. Alex wants to know how it went with her dad, but he didn’t actually tell him about their relationship.

At the warehouse Chuck and Casey are confronted by the bad guys as T.I. snoops by the apartments looking for Casey as Morgan shoos/breaks up with Alex. T.I. asks Morgan where Casey is as Casey listens from the inside.

At the hospital Devin gets a call from Morgan who asks about couch lock and says Jeff’s come down with it. Devin tells Morgan to get Jeff’s heart rate up and Morgan slaps him. He also tells Casey about his relationship with Alex, finally! The news gets Casey’s heart rate up and manages to choke Morgan for a bit.

Casey knows where the bad guys have taken Chuck and Sarah: to Iran. He still doesn’t approve of Morgan dating Alex.

In Iran, Chuck and Sarah are held captive. Chuck tries to ask about Frost and they tell him that Frost is their boss. Morgan and Casey rewire the bunker and they have a live feed of Chuck and Sarah in the bunker. Casey gives directions to Morgan to follow as he heads down to the bunker. Morgan must flip a switch when he hears Casey say the word “security.” They tell Casey to drop all his weapons. Casey says security twice and Morgan flips the switch that activates water in the bunker: it’s the wrong switch. They use Casey’s hand to open the safe to retrieve the gold. Morgan gets shot by Mackintosh who tells him to surrender, now Chuck, Sarah, Casey, & Morgan are in the bunker. Morgan saves the day as the men get electrocuted including Morgan.

Morgan went into cardiac arrest but he’s still alive. He was dead for 3 seconds. Chuck tells him that was the bravest thing he’s seen anyone do.

Back the Buy More, Jeff & Lester talk with Casey and tell him he has joined their group over his strange behaviour when they picked him up from the dumpster. Morgan tells Casey him and Alex are done. Morgan gives him an invite to his party.

At the party: Chuck, Sarah, Ellie, Devin & Morgan are joined by Casey. Alex also invites herself, she tells Morgan that she’s already talked his Casey (who actually had nice things to say about Morgan). Morgan tells her he wants to be with her and vice versa.

Casey tells Morgan if he breaks her heart, he breaks Morgan’s “everything.” Sarah meets up with Chuck outside as he tells her his mom may in fact be a bad guy. He admits in order to find her, he’s put everyone he loves in danger and does not want to look for her anymore. They both say “I love you.” Sarah walks away and Chuck gets a call from his mom, oooohhh cliffhanger!

Chuck episode 4: “Chuck Versus the Coup d’Etat” recap

The episode begins with Chuck and Sarah awkwardly agreeing that he wasn’t proposing as him and Morgan review the footage of the fake-proposal. Chuck tells him she’s acting like nothing even happened. Dr. Fred is bringing his new book for a signing at the Buy More. The books is 101 Conversations before ‘’I Do.’’ Morgan wants Chuck to read the book.,

At Devin & Ellie’s: he’s busy playing music to the baby via headphones to Ellie’s stomach. Ellie’s feeling overbabied and she’s being overlooked. She tells him they should take a baby moon, a break before the baby arrives.

Back at the CIA/Buy More Chuck, Casey, and Sarah are being briefed by The General who gives them information about Juan Pablo Terrini, the head of Costa Gravas secret police. He’s in town unannounced as she orders Casey to get some bed rest. Sarah and Chuck are on a stake out for Terrini and he tells her they are ‘’crap communicators.’’ He tells her that wasn’t a proposal. Chuck then tells her about the book Morgan gave him and he’ll read it and ask her questions. The General tells them Terrini is heading to Devin & Ellie’s. Chuck and Sarah arrive to find Terrini, who shows them a video message from Generalissimo Alejandro Goya guest star Armand Assante. He’s inviting them via private jet to Costa Gravas.

Sarah tells Ellie that Costa Gravas is safe and Ellie is convinced to go. Chuck and Sarah add themselves to the trip.

At Casey’s, Morgan is helping him. Alex (Casey’s daughter) visits and drops off soup for her Casey. It seems like Morgan and Alex have been talking to each other. Morgan finds Alex attractive but Casey wants him to back off and he sends her away. Back at Chuck’s, Sarah and Chuck decide they should be regular people on a tropical island and having communication exercises on their Costa Gravas trips.

Ellie, Devin, Sarah, and Chuck are given a warm welcome by Goya and his wife Hortencia (guest star Tia Texada). They attend a party as Chuck and Sarah decide alone time guidelines. Goya gives Devin a gift: a shirtless statue of Devin. Chuck flashes on a Soviet weapons systems behind a marked door. That’s when Hortencia tells her men to move into position.

Sarah calls Casey and Chuck tells him about the red door he flashed on. Casey says he’s familiar with the door. Goya starts singing Besame Mucho to his wife. Chuck and Sarah wander out of sight while being guided by Casey. Devin’s fascinated with the abs on his statue. Hortencia tells her guard her pig of a husband and his American friends ‘’can roast together.’’ Casey and Sarah find the door as they hear Devin & Ellie canoodling on the other side. That’s when they hear gunshots. At the party, Hortencia starts shooting up the place yelling to bring her husband. In the midst of the gunfire Devin’s head of his statue is demolished. They are confronted with an armed guard, Chuck flashes and beats him down. Casey tells Sarah to make their way to basement as they meet Goya  and he gets them out of there.

They all head on Goya’s jet. Sarah and Chuck talk to Goya about his wife and how she betrayed him. They head home and Goya decides to hide at Casey’s home.

At the Buy More, Morgan gets texts from Alex and seeks Big Mike’s advice. Big Mike tells him to decide if Alex really is the one.

Chuck and Sarah continue to work on their mission as he wants to talk about their relationship and she doesn’t. He says Dr. Fred is world-renowned and his book is helping them. Sarah finds out what the book is and confronts Chuck, that’s when he flashes and says the weapon is nuclear control panel. The General confronts Goya and he admits they are nuclear devices in Costa Gravas. He has one key to activate the nuclear missiles. The other he says, he gave it away to his wife. The General orders Casey to watch the Generalissimo. Chuck and Sarah are ordered back to Costa Gravas.

The Generalissmo and Casey are bonding, sort of. Casey tells him he wrote a report back in 1991 about someone close to him talking him down and not his wife. It turns out Pablo is the one who wants his key. Casey stands up from his wheelchair. Generalissmo hits Casey with a flower pot to protect him.

The General tells Chuck, Casey, and Sarah to go back to Costa Gravas to destroy the nuclear control panel and find the missiles. At the Buy More, Dr. Fred is having his book signing. Big Mike tells Morgan to take his woman and give her a kiss instead of listening to a book.

In Costa Gravas, At the Generalissimo’s basement Hortencia is fighting with her husband as they try and film a ransom type video. Chuck walks in on the fighting, Sarah joins him. Chuck tells them they are in the CIA. Chuck then gives Hortencia relationship advice. No matter what changes they went through, Chuck asks them if the love is still there. That’s when Casey busts in. Hortencia says she used to be a partner with her husband. The Generalissimo asks her if she would help lead the country with him. When they kiss Sarah disarms the nuclear control panel.

At the Buy More, Alex visits Morgan. He starts talking but she grabs him and kisses him as Big Mike watches on. She tells him they should be together, Morgan is hesitant. But then kisses her.

In Costa Gravas, Chuck flashes on Volkoff and asks the Generalissimo if he purchased the system from Volkoff industries. The General says yes and mentions Project Beacon, the same project Heather mentioned last week. Chuck asks him if he remembers Frost. He doesn’t really give a conclusive answer.

Back at home, Chuck talks with Ellie. She tells him he was good at the spy stuff in Costa Gravas. She says she’s happy they have a life with no secrets, but Chuck tells her he’s looking for mom. He wants them to know the truth about her leaving her family. Ellie says what if their mom is exactly who they think she is. In bed, Sarah tells Chuck (who is sleeping) that she loves him and if he asked her to marry him she would say yes. Surprisingly Chuck is in fact sleeping.
