Jennifer Hudson is releasing a new memoir called I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down, detailing her weight loss of 80 pounds, but she also talks the movie roles she’s turned down, including the lead role in Precious.
Here’s an excerpt via Uptown Magazine:
Around the time when Hudson was wrapping up her run of appearances and award shows for Academy Award-winning Dreamgirls, she was asked to play the lead role by director Lee Daniels. But the thought of packing on the pounds was unattractive to the Oscar winner.
“I had done that with Effie… and as much as I was moved by this film. I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight.”
