Deadliest Catch: What You Don’t See on TV

Reality Weekly has a scoop about the new season of one of our fav shows Deadliest Catch!

Here’s what Reality Weekly reports:

File:DC Opening.PNG

No one says life at sea is easy. So when deckhand Chris “Whipper” Welch decided to leave the fishing vessel Seabrooke this past season because he was homesick for his wife, Deadliest Catch viewers understood.

But it was another matter for Whipper’s captain — and his big brother — Scott Campbell Jr. as well as the Seabrooke’s crew. They had to return to port in the middle of a lucrative fishing expedition and find another deckhand. They were not happy, to put it mildly.

But Whipper is returning for another season of the show. So are deckhands Josh and Jake Harris, whose future at sea was in doubt after the 2010 death of their father, Phil Harris, the caption of the Cornelia Marie. So how did Whipper get a second chance?

“If he wasn’t my brother, I would never have hired him back,” Captain Scott tells Reality Weekly in an exclusive interview. “But he kept bugging me and calling my house every day, begging for a job, and I felt sorry for him.”

Reality Weekly May 7 2012 – RHONJ: It’s War Between Teresa Giudice & the Housewives

Reality Weekly‘s May 7 2012 issue features a report that Real Housewives of New Jersey‘s Teresa Giudice is feuding with the other housewives.

According to the mag, it’s the most shocking season of RHONJ-ever! The mag reveals who’s been dishing out horrible insults, who’s demanding more money and who’s quitting the show!

In the issue:

Things are heating up in the Garden State as the fourth season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey kicks off, in a season that pits everyone against Teresa Giudice! “It’s a very complicated situation,” Housewife Caroline Manzo tells RW. “There’s so many layers.”

According to a production insider, this fourth season, which was taped last summer, is going to be the most explosive ever. “Teresa doesn’t care if she looks like a jerk on camera — she’s just going full-throttle,” says the insider.

“She has rare moments of self-examination and will try to apologize to people she’s wronged, but when they’re not receptive, she just goes insane! And they all fight dirty.”

‘Deadliest Catch’ star charged with assault?

Deadliest Catch star Feleti “Freddy” Maugatai has been charged with misdemeanor assault in Alaska, reports TMZ.

The charge stems from an altercation on December 16 at the Grand Aleutian Hotel.

Here’s what TMZ reports:

According to the criminal complaint obtained by TMZ … a female witness claims the Discovery Channel reality star got into a fight with her husband … and it spilled over into the restroom.

When the woman went to check on the situation, she claims she observed that Freddy had her husband in a headlock.

The woman claims she tried to free her hubby, but Freddy grabbed her by the arm and “forcefully” pushed her across the restroom.

When cops arrived to the scene, police say they observed the woman had bruising and swelling on her arm.

According to the complaint, Freddy told police he didn’t start the fight … but was merely defending himself after the other man punched him in the face.  Freddy says he “did not touch Katz.”

A few days later, a judge ordered Freddy to stay away from the woman, her husband and the hotel.  He’s due back in court later this month.

Freddy currently works on F/V Wizard. A rep for Discovery had no comment.

Deadliest Catch: greenhorn down?

TMZ reports there was an emergency at sea involving the F/V Wizard.

Here’s what TMZ reports:

A member of the “Deadliest Catch” fishing crew collapsed while at sea Tuesday — and according to the caller, the man showed “signs of shock and possible convulsions.”

During the transmission, the caller says the unidentified crew member is “barely coherent” — and probably suffering from severe dehydration.

The crew member in question — who we’re told was a novice crab fisherman AKA a “greenhorn” — was airlifted to a nearby hospital in Alaska for treatment.

Sources tell TMZ, he’s doing a lot better now — and a rep for Discovery adds they are “thankful to the Coast Guard and F/V Wizard crew members for their fast action and coordination.”

We hope the greenhorn gets well soon!

Deadliest Catch star Justin Tennison was found on Tuesday in an Alaskan hotel room, reports RadarOnline.com.

He was 34 and a member of the F/V Time Bandit.

His body was found unresponsive just before 1 p.m. at the  Best Western Bidarka Inn in Homer, Alaska.

No foulplay is suspected but + reports cops found drugs and alcohol in his hotel room suggesting there was a party in the room the night before.

A spokeswoman for the production company that works with the show says, “Discovery Channel is saddened by the passing of Time Bandit crew member Justin Tennison. We send our sympathies to his entire family and fellow crew members during this most difficult time.”

Captain Andy Hillstrand wore on his Facebook page:

It is with great sadness that the Time Bandit family announces the death of crew member, Justin Tennison. Justin died peacefully in his sleep the night of February 21, 2011.

Justin fished commercially for many years, living in Alaska for 28 years. He worked on the Time Bandit, alongside his second cousin, Eddie Uwekoolani, Jr., serving as Engineer during the tendering seasons, and joined the Time Bandit crew as a deckhand fishing the Red King 2010 and Opilio 2011 seasons.

Justin was tough as a bull and was an all-around good hand. The Captains and Crew appreciated his hard work and many contributions this past year. We will miss him terribly and wish his family all the best during this most difficult time.

Drug investigation involves Deadliest Catch’s Cornelia Marie??

The Cornelia Marie was searched earlier this month by police after its captain called the cops saying someone was abusing drugs on board the boat, reports TMZ.

The boat is a staple for Discovery Channel’s hit show Deadliest Catch.

Police responded to a call from Cornelia Marie Captain Derek Ray on November 5, 2010. He told cops that Jake Harris, son of the late Captain Phil Harris was abusing prescription drugs while on the boat.

Cops searched the boat and found “paraphernalia” but not enough to nail Jake with a charge.

Deadliest Catch stars quit the show??

Noooooo, say it isn’t true!!

Three Deadliest Catch stars have quit the show, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Capts. Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand of the Time Bandit and Sig Hansen of the Northwestern are leaving Discovery Channel’s hit show.

The three stars made a joint statement:

“We have been through a lot over the past year and unfortunately given the current situation with Discovery we are unable to continue participating in Deadliest Catch. It has been a fantastic ride, and we wish the best to all of the amazing and supportive ‘Catch’ fans we have met over the years.”

Johnathan and Andy are involved in a legal battle/breach of contract with Discovery over a planned spinoff that was in the works. Hansen took his fellow Capts. side against the network saying, “I want people to know the captains stand together, and me and my brothers support them 100 percent.”

The lawsuit is worth $3 million and would force the captains to sell their boats to cover costs.

Hansen has been on Deadliest since the first season back in 2005. The Hillstrands joined the show in season 2.

Deadliest Catch will definitely not be the same without these three captains!!
