Common is featured in the October 2011 issue of Michigan Avenue Magazine.
In the issue Common talks being single:
“I’m a single man, just striving to do the right thing. The women I’ve loved in my life—from my mother to my grandmother—that’s a band of strong women.”
He also talks being born and raised in Chicago:
“The music is definitely Chicago. The way I speak is Chicago, my mentality is Chicago. We have a real authentic thing about our personalities. We’re people who don’t let the industry detour us too much from who we really are. We’ll tell you exactly who we are. It’s almost like we don’t know how to be fake.”
Common stars in the new AMC series Hell on Wheels, premiering November 6.
