Jillian Michaels is featured in the October 2011 issue of Redbook.
In the issue Jillian gives her best tips to stay healthy and fit during the winter months:
1. Pick your days to splurge.
“People think, It’s the holidays! and go nuts for four months. But if you break it down, the holidays are only four days of the year: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas or Hanukkah or whatever you celebrate, and New Year’s. Allow yourself a few parties, but be mindful the rest of the time.”
2. Schedule future workouts.
“Grab a class schedule from your gym, plan to meet up with a buddy, or, if you’ll be traveling, pick a hotel with a gym. Look several months ahead, see where the obstacles lie, and figure out ways to overcome them.”
3. Don’t beat yourself up if you slip.
“Think of it this way: If you got a flat tire, what would you do? Change the tire? Or get out of the car and slash the other three tires? No! Get back on the road. Don’t dwell on it, don’t beat yourself up. That gets you nowhere.”
4. Focus on the big picture.
“Always ask yourself, ‘What is it I really want?’ For example, I woke up this morning and I wanted doughnuts, but I wake up every morning and I want doughnuts. So then I’m like, How am I gonna feel if I eat one? How am I gonna feel when my body looks like crap? Put your choices in perspective.”
The October 2011 issue of Redbook hits newsstands on September 13.
