Kate Walsh is featured in the September 2011 issue of Boston Common Magazine.
In the issue Kate talks her new fragrance/beauty line called “Boyfriend”:
“I had the idea a long time ago, after a breakup. I didn’t miss him so much as I missed the scent of a man on my skin, or the scent of his skin on his shirt. The idea wouldn’t leave me alone. I didn’t want to do a celebrity fragrance, and I’d done endorsements before. So I waited a few years. When I couldn’t find that scent I was looking for, I decided to create an homage to the boyfriend and finance it myself, start my own company. It’s a nod to boyfriends, who are less celebrated than spouses but still have important roles to play.”
She also gives some dish about the new season of Private Practice:
“The baby stuff is going to be dealt with in an exciting way. What I love about our producer, Shonda Rhimes, is that she gives relationships their due. So we’ll see that played out. The baby issue isn’t going away; it doesn’t go away for women. It’s important to me and to Shonda to get to that. So many women can identify with it—it’s become a dilemma endemic to this generation of women. Benjamin Bratt will be joining the cast, and we’re going to see the show going in a few unexpected directions.”
Kate also talks her fav vacation spots:
“Mexico is a top choice for me. I also love going to Anguilla, where I recently vacationed. I work with Oceana, the marine conservancy organization. Warm spots are good ones—I love to snorkel and swim, and I dive occasionally.”
The new season of Private Practice premieres September 29 at 10/9c on ABC.
