Mark Wahlberg is featured in the December 2010/ January 2011 issue of Boston Common Magazine.
In the issue Mark talks about his raising his kids to be “good people”:
“I want to give my kids the world, but I also want them to appreciate everything, to succeed, to be good people, to enjoy life. This is my most important role. If I fail at this, I fail at everything.”
He also talks about his new buzzworthy film The Fighter, playing real-life boxer Micky Ward. The film co-stars Christian Bale and releases December 10:
“Micky might not have had all the talent in the world, but he had the drive and the desire—and that’s more powerful than a God-given gift. Micky and I come from the same world. We had a lot to overcome in order to accomplish our goals. The opportunity to play him was a dream come true— not only because I’ve always been a huge fan of his, but because I also always wanted to play a boxer.”
Mark fought hard to get the film to the big screen:
“Getting this film made and actually making it were two of the hardest things I’ve ever done. It was my life’s mission to bring this story to the screen.”
