NBA superstar Dwyane Wade is featured in the Winter 2011 issue of Monarch Magazine.
In the issue the Miami Heat shooting guard talks about his charity Wade’s World Foundation:
“I’ve seen the worst for a kid – I’ve seen the gangs and the drugs and the shootings. So I will always been involved and try to stop those things from happening. Yeah, the foundation is something I’ve always had in my heart because of where I came from. I just always wanted to give kids an opportunity. So this foundation gives to kids in need. I feel the need to give kids other opportunities in life to be able to succeed.”
He also talks about being more than basketball:
“I can’t just let basketball define who I am and what I am supposed to become. I was always trying to search and see what’s next [for me]. Basketball is going pretty well, but I now I know what I do for others is bigger than the game.”
