The season finale of The Bachelorette aired on Monday with Ali finally choosing someone in the end. Here’s a recap of what happened:

Ali began the second with 25 mostly eligible contestants and narrowed her search for love to 2 final men: Roberto and Chris.

Roberto

There’s always been great chemistry between Ali and Roberto from the very beginning. They had a strong bond from when Roberto taught Ali how to salsa the very first night. Their relationship has been pretty steady and they both are very comfortable together and look like a real couple. Ali says she feels safe with Roberto.

Chris

Chris and Ali’s relationship has definitely taken all season to develop. They started off as friends and it grew into a strong bond. It hasn’t been the fast paced relationship she has with Roberto, Chris is more patient and he’s picked key moments to connect with Ali about his late mother and his life back at the Cape. Ali says ‘Chris may be the one for me.’

Meeting Ali’s Family

Roberto arrives to meet Ali’s family with some pretty nice gifts. Ali says she ‘always looks forward to meeting Roberto.’ Roberto admits that he’s pretty nervous to meet Ali’s family as he says ‘this could potentially be my in-laws.’

Ali tells her parents Roberto brings her ‘to a peaceful place.’ He has a heart-to-heart talk with Ali’s mom. She says she never seen Ali this happy before, ever. Roberto asks her mom what he can do to keep her happy. She replies, ‘I can’t contain the joy of this experience.’ She also admits that she sees Ali really cares for Roberto and that she thinks his heart is pure in Spanish.

Roberto then sits down with Ali’s father and he seeks his blessing and permission to propose to Ali. Roberto tells Ali’s dad he cares about Ali a lot. Ali’s dad says he doesn’t have a problem with Roberto proposing to Ali.

Ali’s mom tells Roberto he needs to teach her how to salsa. Ali dances with her dad as Roberto dances with her mom. Ali says ‘he fits right in’ into her family. Ali says she’s been looking for something wrong with Roberto, sounds like she can’t find anything.

Chris

It’s Chris’ turn to meet Ali’s family. Ali says she knows Chris would make a great husband. The family instantly bond with Chris as he’s from their home state, so they have a local connection. Chris tells Ali’s family about his mother passing who was a nurse, Ali’s mom is a nurse. Chris says he was a teacher, Ali’s dad taught physics.

Ali’s mom tells her she likes Chris a lot he’s ‘sweet and cute.’ Chris tells Ali’s brother and sister that he’s falling in love with Ali. Raya, Ali’s sister said she feels Chris is genuine and she would be more than happy to have him apart of their family. She tells Chris that hopefully she will see more of him soon.

Chris says the day was wicked and that he feels apart of the family. Ali’s dad asks Chris if he loves Ali. Chris says, Ali is amazing and that she has the same passion for life that he has. Chris asks Ali’s dad for his permission and blessing to as Ali for her hand in marriage. Ali’s dad says ‘I would have no problem to offer my blessing.’ The whole family including Chris finished the day by jumping into the teal ocean.

Ali’s dad says Chris is hesitant with Ali. Her sister says Chris never had a question that he would propose to Ali. He’s real with Ali and she’s real with him. Ali’s mom says Chris is unwavering with his love for Ali. Her family definitely voiced their opinions to Ali, but at the end of the day it’s her decision.

Final Dates

Roberto and Ali enjoy their limited one-on-one time Bora Bora. The two ride on jetskis and they hang out with stingrays. Ali says Roberto might be too good to be true. They both enjoy some intimate moments at their picnic in the rain. Roberto and Ali get dressed up for some more intimate time, he presents her with a gift: a picture. He tells her that he’s falling in love with her. Ali admits she doesn’t want to leave Roberto, it seems like she’s pretty into him!! Roberto set the bar pretty high for Ali, as they kiss the night away.

Ali then has her final date with Chris. They both sit down for a serious conversation. Ali tells Chris he has the qualities she wants in someone. Ali tells Chris she’s in love with someone else. She tells him she will let him go here and not tomorrow. So she basically at this point she chose Roberto over Chris. He thanks her for being honest and they both hug as tears stream down her face. Chris tells her good luck with tomorrow and she leaves.

In his interview Chris says he just wasn’t the one and that it hurts. He has nothing but kind things to say about her. He says he ‘just wants to see her happy.’ He says when Ali left he saw a rainbow and he knew it was his mom saying ‘you’re going to be okay.’ Chris says he’s going to keep looking for the right girl and with that we see him sail off into the Bora Bora sunset.

Picking the ring with Neil Lane

Roberto picks out a nice shiny engagement ring for his proposal with Ali. It looks like he picked a nice princess cut diamond. Roberto says he has to make the right decision for ‘me.’

The Final Rose

At this point Roberto had no idea that Ali let go of Chris early on (the day before). Roberto tells Ali that when he came on the show he didn’t know what to expect. Roberto says he wants to be the guy for Roberto.

Ali tells Roberto he loves her very much and he gets down on one knee and proposes, she says yes!! The show ends with Elton John’s ”Can You Feel the Love Tonight.”

Ali asked Roberto if he would accept the final rose in Spanish.
