Nia Long is featured in the Summer 2010 issue of Monarch Magazine.
We’ve been fans of Nia ever since Fresh Prince of Bel-Air!
In the issue Nia talks about her humanitarian work:
“I just got back from a trip to Figi where I did a bunch of outreach, community service on the island. We went and mentored children, and we had a chance to really see and understand the village life and what these young children go through. And so we try to give them something to hold onto because they live under very poor circumstances.”
She also talks about her newest venture, being a producer:
“Well I’m producing my first movie. I’m in negotiations with the writer, her name is Cupcake Brown, she wrote a book called A Piece of Cake. And I just love this woman so much, she is my hero, she inspires me! She wrote this book which is the memoir of her life, and she was pushed around through the foster care system…and found her way to becoming an attorney, she’s a practicing attorney. So it’s interesting because my work with the foster girls is so important to me, and then this story, Cupcake Brown’s story all begins in the foster care system, and the plan is to make this book into an amazing film.”
